Decorating Christmas cookies with my Dad. Its the only time of year we get to see his creative side come out...but we can't decorate cookies without redhots for Rudolph's nose!
Going down my hallway as a kid with our eyes closed until mom and dad said open them!! It was stupid as a kid, but I will always remember it.

Quiet mornings with my husband and now son. There's nowhere to go and nothing to do on Christmas, so it's just us in the morning! The afternoon gets busy, but mornings are nice!

Putting up the tree is my favourite tradition. My fiance is all about the plastic tree, but I love the real thing.
When I was a kid, we were allowed to open one present on Christmas Eve - and it was always pajamas or nightgowns! That way we always looked nice for pictures on Christmas morning!

My favorite Christmas tradition is making gingerbread men/woman that looks exactly like us! Of course, I do this with the whole family! It's great that we get to see our personality come out through the cookies. It's a tradition I plan on carrying until i'm 100 years old.

My favorite tradition is a simple one: putting up the tree! I have to restrain myself to not put it up right after Thanksgiving dinner is over - my husband makes me wait until the next day :D

My favorite christmas tradition is my mom's lemon-lime punch that we have on Christmas Eve! It is just lemon lime soda and lime sherbet, but it's not Christmas without it!
Favorite Christmas tradition is to bake sugar cookies with my kids. My mom did it with me and I have passed that onto to my kids. It's a fun thing to do together.

We LOVE to decorate gingerbread houses! They are so much fun! I also love to bake gingerbread men too. They kids have so much fun decorating them too.

My favorite tradition has always been sitting in the kitchen watching my mom bake (and then being recruited into helping or washing dishes, lol). As I've gotten older I've stopped watching so much and started participating more. Those early mornings baking in the kitchen with my Mom are a memory that I will always cherish.

I love to bake cookies while listening to Christmas music. We have a station that plays only Christmas music starting the day after Thanksgiving. It's so much fun and gets me in the holiday spirit!
Every year we spend two days baking, all kinds of different cookies. The kids help, and we have a couple of friends and thier kids over too. It is the best time.
Every year my husband and I bake a huge batch of filled cookies (and freeze a few extras). Some years the boys pitch in too, and some years they even help other than as taste testers.

My husband's family did it and we are continuing the tradition. The kids (and any guests) are not allowed out of their rooms Christmas morning until they hear Christmas music playing. My youngest can't stand it, but I think it builds more tension. (Plus, if Santa forgot something, that gives us an opportunity to get things in order.)
I always loved our big Christmas dinners. Our family always laughed, alot.
My Christmas traditions are pretty crazy...with my parents divorced and living 120 miles apart, plus two sets of grandparents and Laura's family and her two sets of grandparents, the last few years I've done six Christmasses in six cities in 4-5 days. My favorite part of Christmas is when it's over and I can exhale.
But I do love cookies!
We have 5 children. All grown and gone now. Starting traditions of their own. All of them are in the USA, and 3 are in the military. We are still on the mission field so coming home is not always an opinion. However, one of our favorite traditions, when we are all together, is gathering in the kitchen and making tamales. We have so much fun it is always a surprise when they turn out delicious.

I love to make cookies and I love to bake... however, My husband is the one that ALWAYS makes the chocolate chip cookies in our house and when Christmas rolls around... he is the one who makes sour cream cutouts and then has the patience to decorate them with our kids (this year they are 5,3,2).

My Kiddo's have a blast making Gingerbread Men and I put out a variety of lil' foody decorations they can choose from to 'spruce up' their cookies :)
Favorite tradition is lasagna for Christmas dinner.
Christmas stockings! Helping Santa fill them and watching the little ones open them. I think this is my favorite because we did not do Christmas stockings when I was a kid. We opened all our gifts on Christmas Eve, too, so I never really got into the whole Santa thing till I had my own kids/grandkids!

My favorite Christmas tradition is the fruit salad my mother makes for Christmas breakfast, with sparkling juice poured over it.
When we were growing up the thing that we would do was as soon as we got home from Mid-Night mass we would make a batch of chocolate chip cookies and open up one present.
Decorating cut-out cookies. It's one thing the whole family gets in on.
Favorite Christmas tradition is decorating cookies because it was the only time my dad would help in the kitchen.

I am now living across the country from my family (with my new family- a husband and two sons) so we are starting our own traditions now. But one of my favorite memories was coming home from my uncle's Christmas Eve, riding in the "way back" of our 12 passenger van with my sister, belting out a mix of Christmas carols and the latest Top 40 hits. (A Groovy Kind of Love was a favorite.)
That and every year my mom and I would bake dozens and dozens of cookies in one day so we'd have gifts and be ready for all the seasonal parties. My dad would laugh because if I was hosting the cooking that year, my mom would pack up half her kitchen and bring it to my house.
Good memories, it's my favorite time of year!

As we live in Brazil and I am Swedish I try to stick to my Swedish traditions every year "just because I have to" So I make all kinds of food just beacsue it is part of my traditional Swedish Christmas. :)
we LOVE decorating the tree together as a family.
it's fun to watch how the kids change their "strategy" as the get older.
I'm hoping this year they're tall enough that some of them end up on the top half of the tree. :)
Baking and decorating Christmas cookies with my mom. I've been doing it since i could talk. We always made them and i took them to school. I don't take them to school anymore but to our neighbors. It's a wonderful feeling.
I grew up listening to the Elvis Christmas record when decorating for Christmas, and continue the tradition with my kids. (Although we listen on tape, and eventually I'm going to have to buy a cd because tape players are so outdated now.)
